It’s coming up to a year since I released ‘Keep You Safe’ A few days before the release I had a miscarriage, I slept walked through the whole release and all of the excitement that comes with having a track that you have worked so hard on out in the world, but I have spent the last few days reading through the reviews, messages & kind words & it’s nice to be able to look back and be proud. For some strange reason unbeknownst to me as of yet, my track ‘I, Defy’ was removed from all streaming platforms, which means I lose all of the streams on it and if you had it added to a playlist it will have been removed from that also. In the grand scheme of life it’s not a big deal and I uploaded it again it’s just annoying!
I would be forever grateful if you add it to your playlists again and give it a stream. It’s a BOP as the kids say. Thank you ❤️

I woke up on New Year’s Eve & for first the time

I woke up on New Year’s Eve & for first the time in a long time, I couldn’t get out of bed. I felt such an overwhelming sadness that it paralysed every part of me. I spent a couple of hours sobbing, locked away from Dara because I didn’t have the words to tell him what was wrong. The only words I could mutter was that ‘everything was too loud’ and it was - the weight of the last 2 years was suddenly very heavy & everyone posting about how amazing their year had been, made me feel inadequate & insecure. I took just over a month off social media to silence some of the noise, to read, write & to learn & it was GLORIOUS!! I highly recommend it. This year is going to be huge both personally & professionally & my intention is to be very present for all of it so social media beaks will be a must.

I started writing this song above on my voice memos last week so it’s super rough but I stuck it over the video which I took in an aquarium in Lisbon last Nov, I find the video so calming, I often watch it before I fall asleep.

I’m late I know but here’s to 2022 ❤️

I feel so fortunate to have been awarded the @artscouncilireland Agility Award. I have so many plans ❤️ I have never applied for funding before because I always had a believe deep down that I wasn’t good enough at music & wasn’t as good enough as everybody else out there & this has definitely limited me.
Thanks to those close few who always believe in me no matter what! So I suppose what I am saying is do what you want to do, make the call, apply for funding, say yes & don’t be afraid. Life is so short & for living ❤️

2 months since I released ‘Keep You Safe’. It’s really got a special place in my heart. I wrote the 1st verse after losing a 2nd baby in March 2020 right at the start of the pandemic when everyone was afraid & confused, following that my grief silenced me for a while but the quiet gave me time to think & to heal. I had lots of remarkable conversations with the women in my life, some difficult, weighing heavy but ultimately cathartic. I was able to sift through the pain of loss & also reflect on some of the trauma I had been through, I was able to step outside myself & see that not everything was my fault, to appreciate things that I have achieved. Throughout this time I constantly reached for the women I loved, the experiences we shared of not feeling good enough, of feeling that we are constantly pitted against each other were overwhelming, to try to protect yourself when you feel like you always have to prove yourself & hide your vulnerability incase you are seen as weak takes it’s toll. ‘Keep You Safe’ was born from all of this. It might only be 3 minutes long but there’s a lot packed into those minutes. I know I am always banging on about it, but thank you to everyone who streams my music & takes time to connect with me. I will be forever grateful, Hug your girls tight & Keep Them Safe at all costs! ❤️❤️❤️
